The Leaf River Active Transportation Network Project represents a major step forward in expanding connectivity and safe access for non-motorized transportation for two cities in Forrest County, Mississippi. The funds raised will be used to construct a scenic multi-use pathway along the Leaf River composed of three unique sections and one pedesdtrian bridge. This would establish pedestrian access in Historically Disadvantaged Communities, enhance economic vitality in the county, and connect to multiple existing pedestrian facilities, community amenities, and green spaces.
We have successfully acquired MDOT funding through their Transportation Alternative Program. This will begin the process of development starting at Chain Park this fiscal year. I will also continue to pursue any available funding on the state and federal level.
